Hundreds of articles have been written to inform the public about the dangers and risks of smoking. However, each year, more and more people are still getting hooked into the habit. This can be attributed to many factors such as, culture, peer pressure, family issues, enticing advertisements, etc. But whatever the reason why a person smoke, the issue remains, smoking is deadly. And famous or not, the health risks of smoking are the same.
Below are the 10 famous people who died from smoking:
1. Sigmund Freud
Who wouldn't know the father of psychology? Sigmund Freud died at the age of 83 from cancer of the jaw. He was the founder of the first psychoanalytic school of psychiatry. He was also a neurologist.
2. John Butler
For football fanatics, John Butler might ring a bell. He is the general manager of the famous San Diego Chargers. He died at the young age of 56 from lung cancer.
3. Frank Sinatra
If you were born in the 70s, most likely you have heard his greatest hits like "Summer Wind", "Night and Day" and "My Way". The music and film industry lost this great singer and actor to heart attack and chronic bladder cancer. He died at the age of 82.
4. John Wayne
John Wayne was once a cigarette endorser of Camel cigarette. Before his death, he was suffering from different cancers, but the worst, which caused his death, was his stomach cancer. He was a known smoker and died at the age of 72.
5. Johnny Carson
Who wouldn't remember this famous comedian, Johnny Carson? He was the famous host of "The Tonight Show" that earns him the height of his thirty-year career. He died from emphysema at the age of 79.
6. Victor Crawford
Victor Crawford is a known tobacco supporter turned tobacco control activist and died from lung cancer at 63 years old. He served as an attorney for tobacco industries blocking the efforts of the government to restrict tobacco use before he was converted when he was diagnosed with cancer.
7. Walt Disney
The great Walt Disney. Who hasn't watched famous animated movies like the "Little Mermaid" or "Pirates of the Caribbean"? Walt Disney the producer, animator, and founder of the Walt Disney Company died young at the age of 65 from chronic lung cancer.
8. Humphrey Bogart
After appearing in almost 75 films in his thirty-year acting career, Humphrey Bogart died from the cancer of the esophagus at the age of 57. He'll be most remembered in his movies like "Casablanca", "The Maltese Falcon", and "the African Queen".
9. TS Eliot
Thomas Stearns Eliot or simply T.S. Eliot is a great 20th century author and poet. He died from emphysema at the age of 76. Some of his greatest works were "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock", "The Waste Land", and "The Hollow Men".
10. Nat "King" Cole
Who would forget Nathaniel Adams Coles or famously known as Nat "King" Cole? He was a famous jazz musician and singer of his time and first African-American to host his own TV Variety show (The Nat King Cole Show 1956). He was diagnosed and died from lung cancer at age 45.
If these famous people who have the money and resources failed to survive the negatives effects of smoking, how much chances do those average earners have? SMOKING MAY KILL ANYONE, regardless of age, gender, status in life, and popularity.
